Natural remedies. Skin care is no different to anything else. Use natural skin care products because they’re safer, and work better. But beware.

So often now people are turning to natural remedies for so many conditions. They are beginning to understand that natural products and natural remedies can, in some cases, be as good or even better than the artificial version. That includes skin care products.

There is a massive trend towards more natural therapies and remedies. Many natural therapists are now so busy that they can hardly keep up. Whereas 50 years ago we had the choice of going to see the doctor, and that’s all, we now have so many options available to us that are less mainstream and more “natural”.

That doesn’t mean, however, that all these “natural” remedies work well, or at all. There are many examples of charlatans pimping so called “natural” cures for all sorts of things that turn out often not to be a cure at all, and sometimes not even quite so natural.

The same applies to skin care. Natural remedies for skin care abound, but some of them aren’t quite as “natural” as you may expect, and some don’t work quite as well as you would like.

However this said, there are good reasons why people look for natural solutions to good skin care. The reasons are simple. Many big name skin care products contain chemical ingredients that are less than healthy for us, and in some cases are actually bad for our skin.

There are, for example, petrochemical products in many skin care products. Look for mineral oil in skin care products and you’ll find it’s quite common. Mineral oil is a petrochemical product. And it clogs the pores of your skin, potentially causing or exacerbating acne.

And some ingredients in many skincare products are even “known to cause cancer”.

So there’s good reasons to look for natural remedies for skin care. Products that contain naturally occurring ingredients that are known to be safe to use.

And there are also many skin care products labeled “natural”. However because there is no definition of what “natural” is, and because there is no requirement for the FDA to actually check to see if skincare products, including natural skincare products, are safe to use, there are still products on the market labeled “natural” that contain dangerous ingredients.

For an example check out the website of organicconsumers.org detailing dangerous ingredients (1,4-Dioxane) found in “organic” products.

So you have to be careful, not all skin care products labelled as “natural” are quite as natural or as safe as you would like.

In our last article we actually set out a process that you can go through to find out how safe your “natural” skin care products really are.

So if you’re interested in natural remedies, and that leads you to buying natural skin care products, we suggest that the first thing you do is to read that article that we wrote for people like you.

And the next thing we would like to say is this. If you still find it difficult to decide which are the safest and the best natural skin care products on the market then we have done that comparison and, in our view, none stack up as well as the natural skincare products from Xtend Life in New Zealand.

We set out the reasons in that previous article we referred you to. For all those reasons, we consider their skin care products to be the best on the market. Not just the best of the natural skin care products on the market, but the best skin care products available anywhere in the world, period. Read the rest of this entry

Beware, not all natural skin care products are as “natural” as you may think. Where do you buy “natural” skin care products?

Are you looking to buy natural skin care products because you’ve become aware that many big brand skin care products may in fact contain dangerous ingredients?

(Or for that matter are you looking to buy natural skin care products because you’ve become aware that they actually work better than the big brand skin care and anti aging products?)

Either way you ought to be aware of some important things before you buy.

The Safety Of “Natural” Skin Care Products

Gradually people are becoming aware that many skin care and anti aging products like moisturizers, face creams, night and day creams and so on contain ingredients that may in fact be bad for your health. That includes cosmetics and many other personal products.

Quick example, a recent study found lead in many big brand lipsticks. Now is that scary or what?

So many women are now turning to natural and organic skin care lines to find products that are safe to use.

But are all of these products free of suspect ingredients? No. There is no definition of what “natural” skin care is, and just because the word “natural” is used in the name is no guarantee that they will only contain safe ingredients.

The FDA isn’t required to test or to satisfy itself that the products contain safe ingredients, that’s why the problem exists in the first place. It’s the same with “natural” or “organic” skin care products and anti aging products.

There are so called “natural” products that have been found containing 1,4-dioxane, a byproduct of a petrochemical process, suspected as carcinogenic. To find out more about this visit organicconsumers.org.

So how do you buy natural skin care products with confidence that they will both work well and be safe to use?

Firstly buy only from a supplier that has signed the Compact For Safe Cosmetics evidencing their commitment to use only safe ingredients.

Secondly you can search individual products at the Cosmetic Safety Database to see if they are considered to have dangerous ingredients.

If you do these two things you should be reasonably confident that the products are safe to use. But that doesn’t tell you they work well.

So, next problem if you’re looking to buy natural skin care products. How do you know they work well?

Without trying them there really is no way to know for sure. The best way is to try them. And if you try skin care products and they don’t work for you you need to be able to get your money back, or you’ve wasted your money.

In our view the best natural skin care products are those of Xtend Life. They have signed the Compact, their products don’t contain dangerous ingredients and they have a publicly stated commitment to both products safety and efficacy, both by signing the compact and on their website.

They stand by both the safety and effectiveness of their products and they put their money where their mouth is by offering a money back guarantee.

As we say, the best way to find out is, firstly, to satisfy yourself about safety, and secondly to try the products. With Xtend Life products you can do so risk free. We know they work from all the feedback we’ve seen, but for you to convince yourself give the products a try.

But don’t think that if you buy natural skincare products that is sufficient to ensure that you’ve got safe products. You may not. Read the rest of this entry
