There’s no doubt that taking omega 3 nutritional supplements ought to be good for us. But beware.

Omega 3. It’s one of the biggest buzz words of the nutritional supplements and dietary supplements industry. It’s supposed to be really good for you.

But  what is omega 3 and why is it good for you, and is there any downside? Why is it about the biggest selling product in the nutritional supplements industry?

You remember the health advice from the past. Keep your intake of oils and fats down. Gradually science is beginning to understand that there are good fats, and bad fats, and the better advice is to reduce the intake of bad fats and increase the intake of good fats.

Bad fats are animal fats, for example. Saturated fats from meat or from animal products like eggs or milk.

But there are good fats, and omega 3 fatty acids are the king of good fats. Why? Because omega 3 fats are high in DHA.

Omega 3 oils are found in fish, not animal products, particularly oily fish. Much is sourced from deep sea fish. And it contains a substance known as DHA, or Docosahexaenoic acid. Sorry for the long name.

This fatty acid is one of the most essential fats in our bodies. It is the major fat in our brains, and is responsible for brain growth and development in infants and full brain function in adults.

Deficiencies in DHA in our brains can lead to brain function impairment, and even brain function deterioration like Alzheimers and dementia with aging.

So if we can supplement our supplies of DHA using dietary supplements containing omega 3, or even specific omega 3 supplements, this has to be good.

And other benefits of omega 3 include such things as reduction in atheroschlerosis, reduced risk of heart attacks, improvements in arthritis and diabetes and some cancers. For anyone suffering from even just one of these diseases that has to be good.

So clearly there are solid reasons to supplement our diets with omega 3 capsules, or at least a daily nutritional supplement containing omega 3.

But there’s a problem that you may not know about. Omega 3 is sourced from sources like deep sea fish or krill. And man made or man released pollutants can be found in fish and krill, pollutants like PCBs and mercury.

So before you choose your source of omega 3 capsules you need to be EXTREMELY CAREFULL  about choosing your supplier.

The best and safest omega 3 supplements are made by Xtend Life from New Zealand. They use Hoki, a fish found in the Southern Ocean, and test for contamination in excess of all known standard for omega contamination.

So yes there are extremely powerful reasons to add omega 3 supplements to your diet. But remember, not all omega3 capsules are equal, you may be doing yourself more harm than good. Read the rest of this entry

As we age we start to notice memory loss. What can we do about it?

Memory loss with aging  can be completely normal. As we age our brain health starts to decline, and we notice it.

Of course there can be specific problems causing memory  loss like brain damage, Dementia or Alzheimers disease, but for most people it’s simply a matter of age.

But we don’t need to accept memory loss as inevitable. Memory improvement is possible, and can be achieved with some simple steps, unless of course it’s memory loss caused by a specific problem, as outlined above, in which case you need professional care.

But remember, it’s normal to notice some memory loss with age, including some short term memory or long term memory.

What do you do to achieve the memory improvement that you want?

Firstly keep healthy. The things that keep your body healthy keep your brain healthy as well. Good diet, including plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, is important, as is regular exercise.

And Xtend life make a superb general dietary supplement that includes ingredients that are specifically designed to improve memory. It’s called Total Balance and users report distinct improvements in memory, even if that’s not the reason why they are taking it.

And Xtend Life also make a product specifically targeted to memory loss that is even more targeted than Total Balance. It’s called Neuro Natural Memory and should make improvements to your memory that you can really notice.

If you’re taking a product designed to improve memory and can’t notice any memory improvement after a few months, stop taking it. Xtend Life actually offer a money back guarantee on their products so you can buy with confidence. Read the rest of this entry
