Can eating foods that help improve skin elasticity in aging skin actually improve your skin health?

The quick answer to this question is yes and no. Sorry to be confusing. However we’ll explain further. And direct you to what we consider are the worlds best (natural) skin care products.

There’s no doubt at all that what you eat directly affects the condition of your skin and how well it ages. Eating a good diet rich in anti oxidants and vitamins and minerals is essential to optimum skin health and the look and feel of your skin.

You need to follow all the advice that you read everywhere about eating to stay healthy. Lower intake of fats, particularly animal fats, higher intake of fresh fruit and vegetables and lower intake of salt and sugar. What is good for our body generally is good for our skin. No doubt.

But there are many people who think that there are miracle foods that help improve skin elasticity in aging skin and which help slow the skin aging process. And to some extent that’s true. But actually producing the result you want, namely to improve your skin health and the looks of your skin simply by eating isn’t as easy as you might expect.

Lets look at 3 examples of foods that help improve skin elasticity in aging skin.

1. One of the good fats that help improve your skin health is omega 3. You’ve probably heard of omega 3, it’s a fatty acid found in, amongst other places, oily fish. It’s good for your heart, it’s good for your health generally and it is also very good for your skin.

A diet high in omega 3 fats is well worth it, for your overall heatlh as well as your skin health. However it is quite difficult to ensure adequate levels of omega 3 in your diet unless you regularly eat large quantities of oily fish. In some cultures this happens all the time. But in ours the right types of fish isn’t a huge part of our diet, and is very expensive.

2. Phytessence Wakame. Now unlike omega 3 there is a good chance that you’ve never heard of phytessence wakame. It’s a seaweed and is found around the coast of Japan, and is cultivated by the Japanese. It is a large part of the Japanese diet, both fresh and dried, and has been for centuries.

And it’s no coincidence that Japanese women have the worlds best skin right into old age. And science knows why this is, it’s because of all that seaweed they eat right throughout their lives.

There’s a range of reasons why phytessence wakame is good for skin elasticity, but there’s no need to explain the benefits of phytessence wakame further, we’ve written about phytessence wakame here before, suffice to say it’s one of the best things you can do for your skin.

3. Sorbitol. Sorbitol is very good for your skin and is found in grapes and berries, plums and pears and seaweeds and algea. It helps the skin retain moisture and so acts as a natural moisutizer.

There’s many more foods that contain ingredients that are beneficial to your skin, but you might see what we’re getting at here.

It’s extremely difficult to put together a diet that will really make a lot of difference to your skin purely from what you eat. Certainly there’s no doubt that eating a healthy diet is extremely good for your skin, but just trying to eat foods that help improve skin elasticity in aging skin and offer other skin care benefits is like trying to catch a cloud. It’s very difficult.

And in many cases the active ingredients in come foods can actually be better for your skin when applied directly to your skin, rather than eaten.

So what do you do if you want to improve your skin elasticity? (And there’s no doubt that skin elasticity and improving skin elasticity is essential in the fight against wrinkles.)

What you can do is to use the best natural skin care products that contain all these ingredients in one easy to use product.

Most big brand skin care products tend to contain chemical ingredients manufactured in a lab, usually as these are much cheaper than natural ingredients. But it’s quite possible to get skin care products with the ingredients mentioned above, and lots more.That way you don’t need to try and find seaweed to eat, or spend your time eating oily fish. It’s really way too hard trying to combat skin wrinkles or loss of skin elasticity by eating specific foods. Certainly focus on eating a healty diet, but everyone ought to do that anyway.

But if you’re specifically interested in improving skin elasticity then the best way by far is to use natural skin care products that contain ingredients from the best foods, as well as from many other natural sources.

Interestingly, we have read an article recently questioning whether jogging reduces skin elasticity. This is probably more a question for the skin over your whole body than just your face, however it’s something we have not considered before.

Of course when you jog your skin bounces up and down, perhaps this can help break down some of the essential fibres underneath your skin and reduce elasticity.

The article, however, noted that there is no known effect of jogging causing loose skin. It did note however that people who start jogging can offer notice an increase in weight loss, because of jogging is a good aerobic activity, and can be part of a weight loss regime.

And of course if you lose weight your body mass decreases, and your skin is covering a slightly smaller area, and this may explain why people who begin to jog may notice some looseness of skin.

Of course losing weight is good, and we don’t suggest you stop jogging, and in fact the article notes points that we have made elsewhere, that improving skin elasticity can be achieved by some lifestyle changes such as protecting your skin, keeping it well moisturise, avoiding smoking and having a diet high in healthy fruit and vegetables.
