Botox epitomizes the “hope in a bottle” syndrome. Is it worth getting botox injections for wrinkles?
Lots of us want to look younger and despise the wrinkles, lines and crowsfeet that form on our faces as we age.
Unfortunately for us, aging isn’t reversible, and although it’s nice to look better we have to accept our fate as we age. We will look older.
That’s only true to a degree however. There are some very simple steps we can take to both lessen the visible effects of our aging, and make ourselves healthier at the same time.
We’ve talked about changing our diet, increasing the amount of exercise do and taking some essential supplements like Omega 3.
And using high quality natural skin care products. There are some excellent skin care products available now that are extremely effective.
But should we consider botox injections for wrinkles? Aren’t there so many “stars” who’ve had botox injections and look so much younger now?
There’s 3 comments we’d like to make for those thinking of getting botox injections for wrinkles.
Firstly you have to think about the long term. Botox injections may get rid of some wrinkles now, but what about the future? How confident are you that the looks that you achieve now will carry on into the future?
What about in 10 years time? 20 years? 30 years?
There seems to be little data available about the long term effects of botox, and without significant results from studies we wouldn’t let a botox needle anywhere near our skin.
Because if it all goes bottom up in a few years it’s too late, and you may end up looking just terrible for a major portion of your life, just for the perceived benefit now.
Secondly, do you really think those women, (and men), who you see in the magazines who’ve had botox injections for wrinkles REALLY look better? Sure the wrinkles are reduced, but do they actually look any better? We don’t.
And thirdly, are you aware of the risks of taking botox injections? There’s warnings on the label, but of course the warnings are the minimum they can get away with.
Are you aware that botox injections have been linked to deaths? That the organization Public Citizen, the non profit consumer advocacy organization, has issued warnings about botox injections linking botox to serious side effects that can include death?
So if you’re thinking of getting botox injections for wrinkles, we would caution you to think very hard about it, and do some serious research before you jump into botox injections. Read the rest of this entry
