It seems that there is a link between eating turmeric and Alzheimer’s disease. Those who eat it don’t have much Alzheimer’s

The worlds lowest incidence of Alzheimer’s disease is in some Indian villages. They are showing a rate of Alzheimers for those over 60 years old at around 1%, way below the incidence in Western cultures.

This fact has prompted scientists to study turmeric and the effects of turmeric on Alheimer’s  disease, and there seems to be an encouraging link between turmeric and Alzheimer’s disease.

Turmeric is of course a big part of curries, it provides the distinctive yellow color that you get in curries. And the Indians, of course, eat a lot of curries.

This link has suggested studies of the link between turmeric and Alsheimers, and studies are now showing that the intake of turmeric in mice reduces the incidence of Alzheimers.

The ingredient in turmeric that is being studied is curcumin, a known powerful antioxidant and anti inflammatory.

And there is other studies showing reduction in brain damage in rats using turmeric.

It’s all exciting, but not yet proven, we need human trials. Of course this could take years, or decades. You may not want to wait.

The worlds best nutritional supplements include a good dose of curcumin, along with 76 other essential vitamins, minerals and anti oxidants, and taking these supplements will ensure a daily dose of curcumin even if you don’t eat a curry. Read the rest of this entry

Is There A Link Between Resveratrol And Diabetes Relief?

Resveratrol is a new buzz word of the health industry. Why, and what does it have to do with diabetes?

Resveratrol. What is it, what does it do and why should you know about it, especially if you have diabetes?

Resveratrol is a substance found in the skin of red grapes. It is thus also found in red wine which is made from red grapes, and the presence of resveratrol in red wine is one of the reasons why the experts tell us that a glass of red a day is good for us.

Since the 1990s resveratrol has been studied for it’s health benefits. There have been various studies showing links between resveratrol and some cancer cures for such cancers as prostate cancer breast, colon, pancreatic, skin and other cancers.

Studies to date have been animal studies on rats and mice but results have been so encouraging that human trials are to follow.

But one study has been encouraging to diabetes sufferers. It showed a link between resveratrol and diabetes prevention, again in animals.

The science is complicated, but basically boiled down to a finding that resveratrol caused the muscles to use more energy, and this led to less weight gain, understandably, and possibly to a lower risk of diabetes, particularly type 2 diabetes.

Of course this needs to be fully studied with human trials, as is to happen, but unfortunately as these things go full trials will take years (or decades).

But there seems little doubt that resveratrol is well worth taking as a daily preventative. You can get it through any number of sources if you believe all the spam emails you get, but we wouldn’t do that ourselves.

But if you’re at risk of diabetes but don’t want to wait the 10 years or more for human trials, the best source of resveratrol we can suggest is total balance from Xtend Life.

It is the worlds best dieatary supplement and it contains 32 mg of resveratrol.
